Are you looking for a job? The Yakima YMCA is one of many companies looking for people to fill jobs. They're holding a job fair next week and you are invited. But will they see people who want jobs?

Lots of jobs are open in Yakima County and Washington State but companies say they can't find workers to fill those jobs. Jon Smith President of the Yakima Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and Executive Director of the Yakima County Development Association says from fast food to the hospitality and manufacturing industry companies can't find the people they need to do the work. So what's the problem? In a normal year to continue to receive unemployment benefits people were required to look for work and document job searches. But that requirement was suspended in March of last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many companies are hoping the job search requirement is reinstated ASAP so businesses can see more potential workers.
The Yakima YMCA is one of the many employers in Yakima who have jobs to fill. The YMCA is holding a job fair July 6 and July 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. All you have to do is stop at the YMCA Rotary Aquatic Center at 3800 River Road either day at any time between  8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and apply for a job. The Yakima Family YMCA is hiring lifeguards, front desk staff, health and wellness floor staff and housekeeping staff. There is also one opening for a full-time maintenance person.
