Local Marine Dies In Afghanistan

A Marine Lance Corporal from White Swan has died in Afghanistan. 22 year old Joe Jackson was killed last weekend after improvised explosive device. detonated near him. Jackson died after the device exploded while he was following another marine down a steep slope. Jackson's foot slipped outside a detection area and hit a bomb. Jackson was taken to a hospital where he died. Memorial services are expected within the next two weeks.
