14th District State Rep. Gina Mosbrucker wants to make sure no VFW's close in the state so she's introducing a bill in Olympia this month to give the facilities some help. Mosbrucker is working with Yakima Attorney and Veteran Scott Brumback who wants the state to exempt Veterans of Foreign Wars posts from state sales taxes. "He said you're charging a sales tax on the goods we're selling. If you take that off the money would save many of the VFW'S."
Specifically Mosbrucker says her bill would exempt the Veterans of Foreign Wars (vfws) from state sales taxes on the sales of items and goods sold at posts. She says the savings could then be used for operating costs to keep more of the posts open in the state.
