Hundreds of people were in downtown Yakima Monday night to watch the Larson Light Project light up the Larson Building. 2nd Street was closed and people gathered to hear Capital Theater CEO Charlie Robbins host the event. He showed the crowd the many colors that will be displayed on the building for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween and the 4th of July. The project idea comes from Steve Wiese the owner of Yakima's Leading Force Energy and Design. The lights are now on the East side of the building. University of Washington supporters won a Rotary Club auction to have the colors displayed on the building until the Apple Cup on Friday. After that the building will be lit in holiday colors. The current project cost was $130,000 and was funded by private donations. The plan is to eventually light the entire building at a estimated cost of $400,000. Supporters are hoping to raise the money as soon as possible.
