File this under “are you kidding me”? Recess consultants! Apparently kids-being-kids is no longer good enough for the playground.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that a couple of elementary schools in Minnesota have hired a firm called Playworks, which presents a philosophy that says recess can be more inclusive and beneficial if it's more structured.
No more cops and robbers, no more cowboys and Indians - the children's play is overseen by adults who determine which games can be played to ensure that no children are left out and to reduce bullying and disciplinary problems.

The intent is well meaning but some students and their parents aren't fans concluding play activities designed by adults for children really isn’t play.
