Do You Need ID to Buy Baking Soda in WA, OR, CA?
Welp! This is about the dumbest thing I've heard in a while, and I hear a lot of dumb stuff, especially around here.
In New York, they're carding people in buying baking soda.
Baking soda.
Especially as we get closer into fall with all of those wonderful holiday cookies and baked goods that use baking soda, not to mention the 'leave an open box in the freezer' thing some of us do, there are reports of stores literally carding people for buying baking soda.
Why?
Well, for reasons as you'd imagine. Much like getting carded for cold medication, baking soda can be used for drugs in some sort. I don't know what or why exactly, but that's the excuse New York seems to be giving.
Can you imagine getting carded because you wanna bake a dozen cookies for your family?
This report came from New York, however I wouldn't be surprised if start seeing this in Washington, California or Oregon sometime in the near future. Let's hope not.

The list starts with Hurricane Sally, which caused $7.3 billion in damages in 2020, and ends with a devastating 2005 hurricane that caused $170 billion in damage and killed at least 1,833 people. To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

The top five boy names and top five girl names are listed for each state, as well as the number of babies born in 2018 with that name. Historically common names like Michael only made the top five in three states, while the less common name Harper ranks in the top five for 22 states.
