Salmonella is once again at the center of another major recall.

This time, the recall involves “White coated confectionary items.

But what is that?

According to Cooklist.com, it is “primarily made up of sugar, vegetable oil, and milk powder,” giving treats a white glossy finish. So, in short, it is a white candy coating.

Palmer Candy Company of Sioux City, Iowa, is recalling items that include white-coated confectionary items due to the potential for Salmonella contamination.

The items were distributed nationwide, but special notice was given to stores: Walmart, HyVee, Target, and Dollar General in California, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and 14 other states.

Production of the recalled products has been suspended after the Palmer Candy company was notified by one of their suppliers of the possible contamination. They are now working with the FDA in the ongoing investigation.

At this time, 29 different products that use the white candy coating are being recalled, including frosted pretzels, white fudge mini cookies, peanut butter snack mix, yogurt pretzels, and zebra fudge cookies.
