About two dozen people rallied outside U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse's downtown Yakima office Tuesday, hoping to persuade him and other Washington lawmakers to support immigration reforms.

The rally came as a federal judge blocked President Obama’s executive action on immigration.

"In the end, today’s news out of the federal court in Texas will be just a bump in the road," predicted Rich Stolz, executive director of One America. "We are confident that the courts will ultimately uphold the president’s important decision to allow millions of aspiring Americans to come forward and contribute more fully to their communities and country.

"However, this ruling risks delaying those dreams unnecessarily,"Stolz said. "We will not be deterred. Our plans to assist eligible immigrants to apply for deferred action will continue, even as we press for relief for the millions more families that will not be served by the president’s narrowly tailored policy."

Rally organizers also held rallies in Vancouver, Wenatchee and Spokane to demand representatives stop voting to split up families and instead pursue a policy of comprehensive immigration reform that leaves no family behind.
