If It’s Important Shred It in Union Gap Later This Month
If you think scammers are all online and aren't looking for information you throw away police say think again. Scammers look for any way to get your most important information including financial information. It's why you're encouraged to shred important documents before they're recycled or thrown in the trash. Your chance to protect your identity comes later this month.
YOU HAVE TIME TO PREPARE YOUR ITEMS YOU WANT SHREDDED
It's not going to be held until Saturday April 22 but that only gives you of time to prepare. It's the annual Yakima County Crime Stoppers Shreds and Meds event at the Valley Mall in Union Gap. Officials at Crime Stoppers say bring your outdated financial records including old bank statements, old checks, old credit card statements and other items that contain personal and financial information to be shredded.Material is limited to a maximum two banker boxes or three grocery bags.
LOOK FOR OUTDATED MEDICATIONS IN YOUR HOME
Outdated prescriptions? You can turn in your unused, expired prescription medications for safe disposal. No limits on amount of medications to return and dispose. Officials ask that you your shredded items and medicine are clearly separated.
The event on April 22 will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
THE EVENT IS FREE BUT DONATIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED
There is no cost for this service but Yakima County Crime Stoppers will be accepting donations to support the organization’s expenses and reward fund.
