One of my favorite Gary Larsen cartoons is set in an old west saloon where one old coot is ready to draw in a gunfight against another guy who seems somewhat surprised.  The first guy is responding to a series of call out insults and he’s mad enough  to be ready to throw down.  In the picture the words appear to be coming from the mouth of a whiskey bottle sitting on the bar and the bartender is leaning in to the cowboy and saying something like “pay him no never mind, it’s just the whiskey talkin’”

The word play cracks me up!  But could such a thing come true?  Well maybe.  Through your cell phone.

As reported by Yahoo, Johnnie Walker Scotch Whiskey has partnered up with Thinfilm Electronics to bring "talking" whiskey to the masses.

The technology is a sensor that can detect when your phone is nearby a bottle and sends cocktail suggestions, advertisements, coupons and reminders to stock up on more whiske

The thin sensor tag can even tell whether the bottle has been opened or closed and adjust the messages it sends to your phone accordingly.  (Yahoo)
