Highway 12 Over White Pass Remains Closed

Damage assessments continue Today on US Highway 12 over White Pass. Department of Transportation spokesperson Summer Derrey says they're looking at a lot of damage. "This really is an ongoing event. There is more rain in the forecast that could cause further damage. So the extent of the damage isn't fully realized at this point and the damage could continue."
As a result Derrey says at this point Highway 12 over White Pass will remain closed this week and this weekend. And she says the closure could be extensive depending upon the damage and what kind of repairs need to be made. She says the state has hired a contractor to make the repairs.
