On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote was declared in effect.  Recognizing that, August 26 is also Women's Equality Day.

Marie Claire magazine reminds of a few milestones on the 96th anniversary.

--1869: Wyoming becomes the first state to give women the vote.
--100 years ago today - 1916: Rep. JEANNETTE RANKIN (R-MT) is the first woman elected to Congress.
--33 percent: Eligible U.S. women who voted in 1920.
--64 percent: Eligible U.S. women who voted in 2012.
--$1000: Suffragette SUSAN B. ANTHONY's bail after she was arrested for voting in  1872 (about $20K today).
--1964: the last time more men than women voted for President
