
Yakima Distributes Free PFAS Water Filters to East Selah Homes
If you live in East Selah Yakima Health District officials say they're offering 40 free under-the-sink water filters to East Selah households that use private wells and have confirmed PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) levels above state or federal health guidelines.
THEY'RE CERTIFIED AND FREE
A press release from the district says the under-the-sink systems are certified will remove PFAS and include a separate faucet for filtered water used for drinking and cooking. Along with the systems the district is providing each household will also get one free set of replacement filters.

THE PRESS RELEASE GIVES SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
WHEN: Filters are available now and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Contact the district today.
WHERE: Eligible households in East Selah that use private wells and have confirmed PFAS levels above state or federal health guidelines, including those currently awaiting installation of a Point of Entry Treatment (POET) system from the Army, are eligible.
WHY: PFAS are a group of long-lasting chemicals that have been detected in private wells in East Selah, near the Yakima Training Center and may pose health risks when found in drinking water at elevated levels.
