Drivers will encounter ramp closures, traffic congestion and delays at the I-82 Nob Hill Boulevard and SR 24 interchange (Exit 34) during the Independence Day fireworks display at State Fair Park.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), along with the Washington State Patrol and the Yakima Police Department, will control traffic to increase safety for thousands of event participants and spectators.

Traffic control, road closures and ramp restrictions:

· On I-82, the eastbound and westbound off-ramps to Nob Hill Boulevard and SR 24 (Exit 34) will be closed on Monday, July 4, from 9:45 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

· On SR 24, all westbound lanes into Yakima will be closed at the I-82 westbound off-ramp intersection from 9:55 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Also during these hours, northbound drivers on 24th Street, near Kmart, will be forced to turn right (east) onto SR 24 to reduce traffic congestion associated with the fireworks display at State Fair Park.

· Drivers will notice portable electronic message boards placed on I-82 in advance of the interchange exits and on SR 24 in advance of the closure location.

· WSDOT traffic signal crews will manually control the signals at the Nob Hill Boulevard/18th Street intersection and the SR 24 to I-82 westbound on-ramp intersection until congestion caused by drivers exiting State Fair Park clears and traffic returns to normal.
