A project to comfort children during distress or an emergency is being organized at the City of Yakima’s Harman Center, 101 N. 65th Avenue.
Called the Help the Community Project, the effort involves creating teddy bears out of wash cloths and face towels.
Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards.estimates the Harman Center has enough on hand to create 60 or 70 teddy bears. “We can always use more,” she said, noting it only takes one wash cloth or towel to create one of the small bears.
New or slightly used wash cloths and hand towels can be dropped off at the Harman Center’s front desk.
Volunteers will assemble the bears beginning at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 22nd. Richards said help is needed.

Call the Harman Center at 575-6166 for more information.
