Hand Recounts Thursday for Three Local Races

Thursday is the day the Yakima County Auditors Office will conduct hand recounts of three close races from the November general election.
Last week the office finished the official counting. However three races were within the margin for a recount.
In the City of Sunnyside Council Position 5. Mike Farmer beat Julia Hart by 1 vote.
In the City of Wapato Council Position 5. Frances Ayres was the victor over Tony Guzman by 1 vote.
And in the city of Union Gap Council Position 5. David Hansen was the victor over David Matson by 2 votes.
Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says hand recounts will be conducted in the three races on Thursday, December 5.  If any race is tied after the recount the winner is determined by a coin toss. Ross says he doubts however if a coin toss will be needed on Thursday.
