If you have a gun in your home and you'd like to secure it you're invited to a Safe Firearm Storage Giveaway Event on October 25th from 9:00am to 11:00am at The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce.

A PARTNERSHIP FOR SAFETY

A press release says the Yakima Health District has partnered with Alliance for Gun Responsibility and Safe Yakima Valley to host the Safe Firearm Storage Giveaway event to encourage safety and prevent accidental shootings. Everyone is allowed to get free lockboxes and trigger locks while supplies last. Along with the giveaways you'll get training on the use of the devices as well.

FREE STUFF WITH TRAINING

The release says you'll learn about the Triple Safe storage method: storing firearms unloaded, locked up, and with ammunition locked separately.
This event will be held next to Safe Yakima Valley Shreds and Meds event on Saturday, October 25th from 9:00 am-11:00 am at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce at 10 N 9th Street in Yakima.

AN EDUCATION EVENT

The release says the event is being held to help educate gun owners, especially for homes with children and teens about storing firearms correctly. Yakima Health District officials say safe storage prevents guns being used in crimes and suicides. The officials say raising awareness and giving life saving tools to the community is the aim of the event.

PREPARE NOW

You can get prepared by getting all your outdated financial records including old bank statements, old checks, old credit card statements and other items that contain personal and financial information ready to be shredded.
Material is limited to a maximum two banker boxes or three grocery bags.
Outdated prescriptions? You can turn in your unused, expired prescription medications for safe disposal. No limits on amount of medications to return and dispose. Officials ask that your shredded items and medicine are clearly separated.
