GasBuddy Forecasts Potential Price Drops Below $3 by Thanksgiving
As the holiday season approaches, drivers in Yakima will find themselves paying a little more at the pump. According to a recent survey by GasBuddy, average gasoline prices in the area have increased by 1.3 cents per gallon over the past week, bringing the average to $3.62 per gallon.
PRICES ARE DOWN MORE THAN A NICKEL OVER THE LAST MONTH
While prices in Yakima have seen a slight week-over-week increase, they remain 6.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and a notable 28.7 cents per gallon lower compared to the same time last year. GasBuddy officials say the trend reflects the broader national landscape, where the average price of gasoline has dipped slightly, down 0.7 cents to $3.02 per gallon.
SO WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE CHEAPEST GAS?
Drivers looking for the best bargains in Yakima can find gas at Wheeler’s Kountry Korner for $3.03 per gallon priced on Sunday. Meanwhile, Costco and Ahtanum Fuel Stop in Union Gap are also offering competitive prices at $3.05 per gallon as of Sunday.
COULD WE SEE CHEAPER PRICES BEFORE THANKSGIVING?
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, highlights that while prices have recently seen upward movement in some areas, states that experienced significant jumps last week might soon enjoy sharp price declines. He says, "The good news is that those states are likely to see some of the biggest declines at the pump this week, paving the way for the national average to potentially fall below $3 per gallon just in time for Thanksgiving. Currently, we already have 28 states under that level."
DO YOU PUMP DIESEL?
As drivers in Yakima prepare for holiday travel, they can look forward to the potential for even lower prices in the coming weeks. With the national average of diesel also experiencing a slight decline of 0.4 cents, now standing at $3.51 per gallon, overall fuel costs may ease just in time for the holidays.
