Fun in The Sun with Lots To Do At Yakima City Parks
It's a summer in Yakima City parks with lots of reasons to visit a park near you. "The idea is to encourage families to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the free concerts and films outdoors,” says Parks & Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. “The community is invited to relax and listen to great music or watch family films in a beautiful park.”
FUN IN THE SUN STARTS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT FRANKLIN PARK
The Summer Sunset Concert Series at Franklin Park, 2101 Tieton Drive, is 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the following Fridays:
July 7th Genevieve (country)
July 14th Rice (classic rock)
July 21st Rod Giles Band (blues rock/jazz/fusion)
July 28th Ockham’s Razor (Celtic Rock)
Aug. 4th Naughty Pine (reggae/rhythm and blues/pop)
Aug. 11th XYZ and the Boomers (classic rock/country)
FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HISPANIC MUSIC VIVA LA MUSICA STARTS SUNDAY
Viva La Musica begins Sunday, July 9th at Miller Park, on the corner of North 4th Street and East E Street. Miller Park will also host the following concerts on Sundays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm:
July 9th Rancho Unido
July 16th Paso Firme
July 23rd Super Escandalo
Martin Luther King Jr. Park, on the corner of South 8th Street and East Beech Street, will feature Viva La Musica concerts from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the following Sundays:
July 30th Los de Alla
Aug. 6th Tormenta de Durango
Aug.13th Banda la Palmera
Viva La Musica’s finale for this summer will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 10th at Miller Park featuring Raza Michoacana and Los Hermanos Gonzales.
POP THAT POPCORN AND GRAB A BLANKET TO WATCH A MOVIE
The Outdoor Summer Cinema Series returns to the City’s Chesterley Park, on the corner of 40th Avenue and River Road. The movies will each begin at sunset, about 8:30 pm, on six Sundays. The film series features:

July 23rd Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (PG)
