Yakima's ongoing battle with closed Exxon Tiger Marts continues this year. Five Tiger Marts continue to be attractions for graffiti vandals and homes to large weeds after being closed years ago. The properties are in prime locations but Mayor Micah Cawley, who's been trying to get the city to take action says if the city condemns the properties it'll get stuck with the cleanup bill of removing large underground fuel tanks. Cawley says the city has been working behind the scenes to do what it can legally to force the property owner to clean up the properties so they can be resold but nothing has happened in the last 9 years. And no plans are in the future to deal with the closed stores.
