Yakima Fire Department Firefighters doused flames at a home in the 700 block of Cornell Avenue on Saturday. Firefighters arrived at about 9:30 p.m. and found a single-story home with fire coming from the windows and front door. One person and a dog in the home were able to escape without injuries. The American Red Cross is helping with the resident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $150,000. The Yakima Police Department is assisting with the investigation.

Police are investigating the fire after shell casings were found outside and evidence the fire may have been intentionally started.
