A bunch of firefighters Inspired by a triple amputee veteran who received a specially adapted smart home from the Gary Sinise Foundation will bicycle from Seattle to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in a fundraising effort to help build adapted homes for injured veterans who are accepted into the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. Program. The ride starts on Thursday at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond. The 20 or more riders will bicycle to the Cle Elum Fire Department then to Moses Lake and Airway Heights the first two days. Then they ride to Idaho.
The 21-day cycling event will cover about 1,600 miles and pass through 5 states with stops at firehouses along the way.
Riders will arrive in Colorado Springs on September 20 in time for the annual International Association of Firefighters Fallen Fire-fighter Memorial services on September 21. You can help by donating at www.FirefightersRide4RISE.com
