Yakima Firefighters were busy Thursday night with a house fire in the 200 block of Barlett Place. The fire damaged the home and killed two dogs. The family is being helped by the American Red Cross. Officials say the kitchen fire was reported at about 7:50 p.m.
fire crews say the grease fire spread rapidly throughout the kitchen and smoke filled the home.
Crews say the fire was an accident and was caused by unattended food cooking on the stove.  The fire caused an estimated $55,000 in damage destroying the kitchen and left the remainder of the home with smoke and heat damage.
