Anyone who has been following the proposed downtown plaza plans and the controversy over parking in the downtown area will want to be at The Seasons Performance hall at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

That is when the Seattle design team will present the final drawing for the plan that calls for no loss of parking with increased parking spots around the plaza.

Yakima City Economic Development Director Sean Hawkins says it is a chance for you to see and talk about the new design. Then, he says, it will be time to talk about financing.

Certain folks could own the naming rights for the fountains or whatever it might be. I’m not saying who that might be, but it’s definitely being talked about (as) a public-private partnership.

The cost of the proposed plaza is estimated to be in the range of $9.7 million to $11.1 million.

The design team will also present the finished plaza plan to the City Council during the council’s Tuesday business meeting this week at City Hall.
