The USDA Plant and Animal Health Inspection Service closed its investigation into genetically engineered wheat showing up in a Washington state farm field. Back on July 29, the U.S. Ag Department confirmed that a Washington farmer had found genetically engineered wheat in an unplanted field. After an inspection, APHIS confirmed 22 plants were volunteering in an unplanted field. APHIS worked to ensure that none of the genetically engineered wheat made it into commercial supplies.

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who has led legal challenges to key parts of President Obama's regulatory agenda, including the “WOTUS" rule, and who has also criticized the Renewable Fuel Standard, has been tapped by President-elect Trump to run the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pruitt, who met with Trump in New York on Wednesday, filed arguments against the RFS in a Supreme Court brief, and cheered EPA actions that reduced statutory targets for biofuel usage. He called the RFS a “flawed program.”
