If you've been to the Central Washington State Fair searching for a Lamb Burger you're not alone. Lots of people have been asking why the Lamb Burger booth isn't open this year.

THE LAMB BURGER BOOTH IS ONE OF THE OLDEST AT THE FAIR

The Lamb Burger booth is one of the oldest booths at the fair serving Lamb Burgers since 1925. Many generations of fairgoers have made buying a Lamb Burger part of the tradition of the fair and many have introduced new generations to the taste. Besides the Young Life BBQ beef sandwiches the Lamb Burgers have always been fair favorites. But not in 2021.

COVID-19 CONCERNS CLOSED THE LAMB BURGER BOOTH THIS YEAR

Kathy Kramer, President and CEO of State Fair Park says like many other things COVID-19 closed the Lamb Burger booth this year. She says because the booth is operated by volunteers, many who are seniors, the concern about COVID-19 kept them home this year. She says they just weren't able to get enough volunteers to operate the Lamb Burger booth but they'll be back in 2022.

YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN LAMB BURGERS

So where do you go to get that Lamb Burger fix?
Sadly no restaurants that KIT News checked in Yakima serve Lamb Burgers. In the past Wrays Wholesale Meats on South 3rd Avenue in Yakima sold Lamb Burgers during the fair but they're not available this year. Officials at the meat company say they've been told supply issues kept them from getting any of the burgers.

If you can find lamb and ground it like beef there's plenty of recipes on the internet to make a host of lamb dishes including Lamb Burgers. But they'll never taste like they do on a great day at the Central Washington State Fair.
