Experts Say How To Enjoy Thanksgiving “Safely”
Grandma and her special stuffing are going to be happy to hear this! The CDC say you can stay safe and still enjoy Thanksgiving this year. Or so Fox News is reporting.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the smartest way to do so is to stay home, avoid travel, and host any gatherings outdoors if possible.(because every state north of Oklahoma is so balmy in late November)
According to the latest update from the CDC, they say the safest Thanksgiving plans are ones celebrated with members of your own household, and cautioned that older adults and others at heightened risk of severe illness from COVID-19 should avoid celebrating the holiday with people they do not live with. No uncle Elmer and his bad jokes, no aunt Ethel and her bad casserole so that might be a relief and don't forget, fewer guests means more pie per person!
Washington state deputy secretary of health, Lacy Fehrenbach, encourages families to embrace new traditions this Turkey Day, like hiking outdoors, and limiting the dinner guest list so that people can still keep a six-foot distance while unmasked and eating. And that's just the type of "count me in" kind of advice you can expect from Washington State.
People who plan to quarantine before Turkey Day should plan to stay home beginning this Thursday November 13th. With a bit of careful planning you can still have a safe Thanksgiving with at least a few loved ones.
