I grew up with dogs. I like dogs. But my entire formative-dog years were with “outside “or barn dogs. So to me, that’s where dogs belong - while my wife was raised with indoor dogs. So guess what kind of dogs we have? Dewey is my wife's dog and Lucy is the Gator's pup both

are indoor dogs and I’m not big on indoor dogs and all the mischief they can and DO get into!

But I’ll say this, having scallywag-tail wagers, I CAN CONFIRM this study!

A new study reveals dogs have developed a unique way to deal with angry humans-- they just avoid eye contact. You know you have seen it too…or, not seen it!

Researchers from Scandinavia trained some dogs to sit in front of a video screen without any human interaction. They used eye-gaze technology to demonstrate how dogs view the emotional expressions of fellow canines and human expressions as well. The dogs were shown images of threatening, pleasant, and neutral expressions of both dogs and humans for up to 1.5 seconds each. The dogs were found to usually look at eyes first, and to study them longer than the nose or mouth areas.

The animals also spent less time studying the angry faces of humans compared to the faces of angry dogs. In other words, through the domestication process dogs seem to have learned the threat signals of humans and learned how to respond to them in a submissive way, hanging heads, looking away, avoiding eye contact and generally signaling the wish for appeasement.
