The gentle buzzing of bees is an iconic symbol of springtime in the valley. Like Pavlov’s dog, when I hear the buzz, I start to drool for honey.

I went to the Farmer’s Market on May 27 and enjoyed a beautiful day, great sounding music, delicious tastes and smells, and nothing better than “Chester’s” marvelous honey. Chester is a bee man through and through, a KIT listener and offers a wonderful side by side comparative tasting of several flavors of honey made by bees pollinating specific types of plants around the valley. The education that comes from such a tasting session is fascinating and lip smacking good.

There really is a difference between sumac, mint, peach tree and more, so I encourage you to visit him at the Farmer’s Market and taste for yourself. It’s too early for cherries, peaches or apricots but the bees that help set those crops have been busy and their handiwork is ready to eat. I recommend a delicious loaf of raisin-walnut bread from the market as well.

You will thank me later!
