Cutting And Trimming Starts On City Budget

Time to crunch some numbers today. Yakima City Council members meet at city hall this afternoon to start talking about the 2012 budget. Council members know the talks will lead to budget cuts because the 2012 budget is already more than a million dollars short. Council members today will talk about the level of service that's needed in specific areas of the budget including streets. City Manager Don Cooper believes the city needs to spend upwards of a million dollars a year to maintain streets. The meeting is set for 1 to 4 today at Yakima City Hall.
