The Yakima School District has a couple of seats on this fall's ballot with five candidates filing to run. Those candidates are Graciela P. Villanueva & Kenton Gartrell for Position 1.  KateAshley Clarke, Ryan Beckett & Donald J. Davis Jr for Position 2.   The school board website lists Villanueva and Davis Jr. as the incumbents.

Other members not up for re-election include President Martha Rice, Norm Walker and Raymond Navarro Jr.

That info is available on line but we share it here now so you know who to talk to about Critical Race Theory. (CRT)

---From the text of Senate Bill 5044, ---  "The legislature plans to continue the important work of dismantling institutional racism in public schools and recognizes the importance of increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism, and cultural competency training throughout the entire public school system by providing training programs for classified staff, certificated instructional staff, certificated administrative staff, superintendents, and school directors that will be provided in an ongoing manner.”

The questions I think you need to ask our board members and all those running for office is.  Where do you stand on teaching CRT to kids...How does this trickle down to (or rain down on) the students in the classroom...What will they be taught ...and How will they be taught after the teachers themselves have been "properly schooled" on CRT?

Another question to consider is - IF CRT is the obvious answer to all questions about race, how come not everybody is on board?  Right next to the google search for a story about Governor Inslee signing the mandatory CRT training bill was a headline for a story saying Idaho Governor signs a bill banning CRT training!   What changes in the eight hour, thirteen minute, 536 mile drive from Olympia to Boise???

An article in the Patriot Post says, "More states are terminating contrived racist teaching curriculums....Tennessee has joined a growing number of states rejecting so-called “Critical Race Theory" curriculums in K-12 government school classrooms."

(PLEASE click on THIS for an important clarifying description of Critical Race Theory)

"Twenty state attorneys general have put the Department of Education on notice that they object to CRT, declaring, “The proposed priorities are a thinly veiled attempt at bringing into our states’ classrooms the deeply flawed and controversial teachings of Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project.”

The  left claims that America is besieged with “systemic racism" and that the only way out is for everyone to be fully engaged as a full on anti-racist.  Just not being a racist is just not good enough.  CRT indicts all white Americans and it demeans all black Americans.

Classic liberal mistake.  Or is it...a mistake....or perhaps the long game is already underway and we never even knew it had started....food for thought. Here's a little more.

This five minute clip from Pager University does a good job of explaining the complex and problematic nature of Critical Race Theory.
