County Has Cash To Fight Gangs In Yakima

A 270 thousand dollar grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been awarded to the Yakima County Gang Commission. The money in part will help fund the new juvenile gang court that started last Friday. The court is designed to help juveniles convicted of gang crimes steer clear of the gang lifestyle. The court involves frequent meetings with a judge to make sure the juvenile is following terms of his or her probation.
