• USDA is now accepting applications for new conservation initiatives developed in the 2014 Farm Bill.

    Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says agricultural operations will be strengthened, the nation’s food supply sustained and wildlife habitats saved by protecting working lands and wetlands.

    The new programs, the Agricultural Conservation Easements Program and Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program, will provide up to $386 million to help farmers restore wetlands, protect working ag lands, support outdoor recreation activities and boost the economy.

    Applications for ACEP funding must be submitted by the individual state deadline or June 6th whichever comes first.

  • Forty fresh fruit and vegetable innovations have been announced by United Fresh as finalists for the association’s 2014 New Product Awards.

    During United Fresh 2014 in Chicago June 10th through 13th finalists will compete in five categories; Best New Food Safety Solution, Best New Fruit Product, Best New Packaging, Best New Packing-Processing Equipment and Best New Vegetable Product.
