College Credits For Yakima High Schoolers – Look to Heritage University
Some high school kids are capable of earning their diploma while picking up college credits at the same time. For the Yakima District, the primary provider of free credits for College in High School will now be Heritage University.
For the next two years, the students at Yakima's High Schools will be able to take free
Heritage University courses in English, history/humanities, math and science and the credits earned in those courses can be transferred to any college or university.
Heritage University Interim Provost Dr. Kazuhiro Sonoda says, “The primary goal of the program is for students to increase preparedness for college through exposure to college-level work ...the secondary goal is for students to earn college credit when their performance demonstrates the required competencies..."
