At this time next week members of the Yakima City Council and County Commission will be busy in Washington D.C. The annual lobbying trip starts next Monday. Mayor Micah Cawley is leading a delegation that includes City Councilman Dave Ettl, acting City Manager Michael Morales and County Commissioner Rand Elliot. Cawley says the trip will cost taxpayers about 5 thousand dollars but it's expected to result in millions in federal dollars coming to the Yakima area over the next year. Cawley says one of the top priorities is to gain money to fund Yakima's effort to get a handle on the areas gang problems through gang intervention and prevention programs.
