A lot of snow still remains on many sidewalks in Yakima, and that has city officials reminding property owners that it's their responsibility to remove it. City code officials say they've warned many residents six times of the need to remove snow from sidewalks. Now city officials say they'll be contacting people again hoping they'll remove the snow on sidewalks.

If that doesn't work Code Compliance officers could issue citations, which carry fines of up to $50 per day with each day being an additional violation.
City officials say the priority is keeping people safe and providing access for emergency responders.
