Yakima city leaders this week hope to find the next Yakima City Manager. On Monday Thomas Hutka, the current Broward County, Florida public works director, notified the City that he no longer wanted to be considered for the Yakima manager job. At that time the city added a fourth finalist. Dave Zabell served as assistant city manager in Yakima from 2005 to 2011. Zabell was added to the group of finalists after Thomas Hutka withdrew from the process Monday. The other three candidates include include current interim City Manager Alex Myerhoff, Dick McKinley, the Public Works Director for the city of Paso Robles, California and Robert Harrison who recently served as the chief administrative officer for the city of Renton Washington.

Interviews for the four finalists start at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday via teleconference because of COVID-19. The first interview involves a panel of seven community members and seven senior city staff members questioning the finalists.
On Wednesday each person will be interviewed individually by the Yakima City Council during a special meeting that starts at 9:00 a.m. The teleconfernce meeting will be carried live on Y-PAC, Charter Cable channel 194 and live streamed at the city website yakimawa.gov.
