City Jail Inmate in Critical Condition at Yakima Hospital

A 46-year-old inmate in the Yakima Municipal Jail was found injured in his cell on Wednesday and now the Yakima Police Department has asked the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit to examine what they believe is an attempted suicide. The unit is made up of a number of different law enforcement agencies from the region.
A news release from the city of Yakima says the man, who was arrested on June 30th on a traffic warrant was found at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in his single-occupancy cell with a "homemade ligature" around his neck. The man was taken to a Yakima hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The investigation is underway.
