The holiday has a lot of history behind it.
The federal Presidents' Day holiday is recognized on the third Monday every February. It was first established in 1885 to recognize President George Washington. It later became known as Presidents' Day after it became part of the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act.  Some states still have holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and others. Today Presidents' Day is now viewed as a day to recognize all U.S. Presidents.
