City Council To Vote On Resolution Censuring Council Member
When the Yakima City Council meets on Tuesday the council will be voting on a resolution that bars council member Kay Funk from city board assignments for 6 months. The action follows a motion that passed earlier this month that alleges Funk is insensitive, and has consistently acted in a way that's embarrassing and inappropriate as an elected official. Funk disagrees and says it's public censure. The motion passed earlier this month removes Funk for six months from all city- and non-city board, commission and committee assignments. The action on Tuesday makes the motion formal. The council has a new meeting time set for 5:30 with public comment set to begin at 6 at Yakima city hall.
The city council is also expected to talk about a planned expansion of the Yakima Convention Center. The plan is to expand to the north using an existing parking lot. The expansion is expected to cost $12.5 million dollars and will give the center 18,500 additional feet of space.
