A special community-wide open house at State Fair Park is set for Wednesday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the open house the public will get a chance to see all of the updates and improvements to Pioneer Hall, the Modern Living Building and the State Fair Room in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

“These grounds and buildings are owned by the people of Yakima County and we want everyone to see all the work that has been done here over the past couple of years,” said Central Washington Fair Association president Greg Stewart.

Stewart said the nearly $7 million in renovations to the buildings and other State Fair Park improvements make them more usable on a year round basis.

“We hope everyone will be as proud of these historic buildings as we are,” Stewart said. “This is our chance to show them off a little bit.”

During the open house State Fair Park officials will be showing what improvements have been made including new windows and skylights, new heating and air conditioning, new carpeting, new paint and other updates.

Coffee, punch and cookies will be served during the event.
