UN Climate Change Summit Enters Final Week

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has an interesting theory for why there's no life on Mars -- it might have been wiped out by capitalism. In a speech Tuesday (March 22nd) to mark World Water Day, the socialist leader stated, "I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet." Chavez has drawn attention for his outrageous statements before, including call then-President George W. Bush a "devil" in a 2006 speech at the United Nations, and saying that the 9/11 attacks could have been at least partially orchestrated by the United States as a pretext for going to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
