Changes on the Way for Business Owners in Washington

If you own a business in Yakima you need to know there's been a change for business license applications and renewals. Yakima City officials say business license applications and renewals for all cities in the state will be made through the Washington State Department of Revenue beginning April 2.
March 20 is the last day the City of Yakima can accept an application at the 2nd floor counter at City Hall. A news release from the city says the change is the "result of
House Bill 2259, which the state legislature approved in 2018. It requires transferring business license applications to the state’s Business Licensing System.
Under the new system, business licenses expire on the anniversary of their issue date rather than the first of the year."
