Chamber Helping Local Soldiers Deployed to Afghanistan
In July of this year the 53rd Ordnance Company deployed to Afghanistan on an EOD mission. The men and women from the Yakima Training Center aren't expected to return until February 2020 which means they won't be spending holidays with family and friends. An e mail from the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce says this year the chamber is partnering with the Yakima Chapter of "Operation Thank You" to do "Packing & Shipping" of care packages from home.
The chamber is looking for cash for postage and to purchase much needed items. Individuals and companies can also donate items on the list as well.
Hygiene items: foot powder, lotion, baby wipes, Clorox wipes, mouthwash, razors, shaving cream
Food items: canned soup, pre-made meals, beef jerky, healthy snacks
Comfort items: books, coffee, K-cups, VIA powdered coffee, calling cards, play station gift cards
Clothing: socks, beanies, comfortable cold weather stuff, shorts, shirts, flip flops, micro-fiber towels
Work-out: pre-workout, recovery drinks, energy gel packets, protein bars, MIO
Donations can be dropped off at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce at 10 N. 9th ST or Perry Tech located at 2011 W. Washington Ave.
Call the chamber for more information on how you or your company can help at 248-2021.
