Yakima Valley Community Foundation Awards the local nonprofit $11,000

Yakima, WA –Catholic Family & Child Service (CFCS) is pleased to announce that the non-profit has been awarded $11,000 by Yakima Valley Community Foundation (YVCF).

The grant award will be used for services to benefit children and families served through an Integrated Behavioral Health model through Catholic Family & Child Service and Community Health of Central Washington’s Yakima Pediatric Associates.

Our organizations are committed to promote child wellness in our community.  This collaborative innovative model addresses the behavioral and mental health needs of children during the visit with the Primary Health Care provider.  The Yakima Valley Community Foundation grant will provide scholarships to low-income children and families for additional services which will benefit the concerns most frequently identified such as childhood obesity, parenting, depression, and anxiety.

“We are so grateful for the funding from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation to support the unique needs of this important and vulnerable population,” says Darlene Darnell Vice President and Director of Catholic Family & Child Service.  “This grant award will help ensure that all children, regardless of socio-economic background, will get the coordinated care they need.”

Catholic Family & Child Service has provided social services in the Yakima Valley since 1949 and serves children and families through early learning programs, counseling, kinship, foster teens, and elder services.
