A student at Central Washington University has tested positive for measles and now the concern is that he may have exposed others.

HEALTH OFFICIALS WORKING TOGETHER

According to a news release Officials with the Kittitas County Public Health District are now working closely with the Washington State Department of Health and Central Washington University to track where the student was and those who may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease.

THE STUDENT IS RECOVERING

The student is being treated as health officials now wait to see if others who may have been exposed report any symptoms or sickness. The measles virus can be spread by someone who coughs or sneezes. The virus can also be spread by someone with measles who shares a drink or food with others.

Health officials say if you were at any of the following locations during the specific times you need to contact the health department or your doctor:
January 8: 8:30 am-2:00 pm CWU Dining Lion Rock station in the SURC; 3:00 pm-8:30 pm CWU Dining Lion Rock dining station in the SURC; 1:00 pm-4:50 pm International Aviation Management, Samuelson Building. Jan. 9: 12:08 pm to 2:08 pm CWU flight training center; 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm CWU flight training center.

SYMPTOMS?

So what are the symptoms? A fever and a rash are the most common symptoms along with a cough, red eyes, sore throat and a runny nose. If you think you were exposed and have symptoms contact your doctor and stay home to avoid exposing others.
