Yakima has a new Bishop. Catholic Church officials today will introduce the Most Rev. Joseph J. Tyson, a former Auxiliary Bishop of the Seattle Archdiocese. Tyson succeeds the Most Rev. Carlos Sevilla. In 1997 Sevilla was named the Bishop of Yakima. Tyson is expected to be introduced during a media conference at Holy Family parish this morning.

Tyson is a Moses Lake native who grew up in Seattle. Tyson was ordained in 1989. He's been Auxiliary Bishop in Seattle since 2005.
