Burn Ban Called In Yakima County

Effective immediately, a Stage 1 Burn Ban is in effect for all of Yakima County (except land within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Nation Reservation) until air quality improves. This includes BOTH

the Upper and the Lower Yakima County areas. The Air Pollution Control Officer of the Yakima

Regional Clean Air Agency has called this Burn Ban primarily as a result of local impaired air

quality due to what is being called the” Monastery Complex Fire” currently burning in the Satus

Pass area. This Burn Ban is expected to remain in place throughout the weekend, and will be reevaluated

on Monday. YRCAA staff will continue to monitor the air quality to determine when any changes to the current burn ban should be made. Air Quality conditions can change rapidly. Please check our website for the most up-to-date information at: http://www.yakimacleanair.org
