Despite reports of a Bing cherry crop being a disaster this year BJ Thurlby President of the Northwest Cherry Growers and Washington State Fruit Commission says that's just not the case. He does admit the Bing cherry crop is smaller this year. "You know on a normal year we'd see about 5 million boxes this year we'll see about 3 and a half million." That's not as much as expected but Thurlby says the Bing crop is by no means a disaster this year. Plus he says many other varieties will be available as well.
