The Yakima Parks Department is hoping you'll get involved in what the department is calling the "Bearable Adventure" initiative. A news release from the city says the "Bearable Adventure" asks Yakima residents to get involved by placing a teddy bear in a window of your home or business. Yakima residents are then encouraged to talk a walk in the neighborhood to search for bears in the window of homes and businesses.
City officials say keep track of how many bears you find and note your favorite display. Share your bear adventures on the Yakima Parks and Recreation Facebook page. They say look for special bear challenges by checking the Yakima Parks and Recreation website at yakimaparks.com.
At the end of this project Parks and Recreation will announce the bearable display that is most “loved” and “liked.” The program is scheduled to end October 6th, the tentative date for National Night Out.
